Strawberries were first cultivated by the French in the 14th century, but they were different from modern varieties. In 1712, a French expedition to Chile resulted in crossbreeding and the creation of the garden strawberry. Strawberry plants spread to North America in the 1750’s and later to other countries such as Lebanon. Kanz Strawberry Jam, made from locally-sourced, fully ripened and 100% natural strawberries, offers a balanced flavour and can be enjoyed with bread, desserts, or as a topping for tarts and pies.
