Lebanese

A Bit of History

Ever since the dawn of agriculture 12,000 years ago, the inhabitants of Lebanon have been engaging with their fertile land, producing a treasure (Kanz), the “Mouneh”. However, with the outbreak of the Civil War and its aftermath, agriculture has been facing a decline, undermining the country’s food sovereignty.

Our Vision

Kanz’s vision is to revive, safeguard, and transmit the culinary and artistic heritage skills of Lebanon. Empowering local artisans is key, ensuring these traditions live on. We envision a vibrant tapestry where age-old techniques flourish alongside contemporary design, reflected in exquisite products. By unearthing the flavors of authentic Lebanon, we inspire future generations to connect with their heritage.

Women account for 43% of the agriculture labour force in Lebanon. Yet, they are:
– Unpaid
– Undervalued
– Subject to harsh patriarchal social habits
